This summer has gone by exceptionally fast and in less than 24 hours, I will be back on campus. I spent a majority of it working and as a result, I did not get to see/hang out with certain people. There were also so many things I said I’d do this summer, but never really got the chance to. For example, watch Cirque du Soleil, go biking at Governor’s Island, go rockclimbing, watch the fireworks at Coney Island, etc. A part of me feels like I really missed out. But another part of me feels grateful to have met so many new people through work, especially my co-workers. They have taught me the importance of teamwork and so much more. When I found myself struggling with some of the tasks, due to lack of proper training, my co-workers were there to help me. In addition, the supervisors at the worksites that I monitored were all so kind to me. Some even told me that they’d love to have me work for them if the opportunity ever comes up. Now I know why they say that networking is crucial!
As I reflect on my summer and think of all the things that I didn’t get to do, there were many things that I did do:
- Kayaking
- Bowling
- Taking a tour bus to Virginia with friends
- Riding countless rollercoasters
- Pigging out at Smorgasburg
- Biking in Central Park
- Taking photos in Long Island City
- Going to Splish Splash
- Trying different cuisines and eating at new places
I hope that next summer, I can experience more new things and create even more memories. Goodbye, SUMMER 2012.
